Pricing in the Product Catalog
This function or procedure is available with SAP CRM or SAP ERP as the back end connected to SAP Web Channel Experience Management. Note that if you use SAP CRM as the back end, a system connection between SAP CRM and SAP ERP might be required.
Web shops can use the following pricing methods to determine price information in the product catalog:
- List price
- Dynamic pricing
- Mixed
Integration
The prices shown in the shopping cart rely on, among other things, the pricing method used by the product catalog. For more information, see Pricing in the Shopping Cart.

Features
- Pricing methods
- List priceThe list price pricing method has performance benefits such as faster system response times; however, it only supports simple pricing scenarios. For example, campaigns and scale price availability are not supported.List price is determined by the product master condition records maintained in the back end. The product master condition records are exported to the SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management (SAP NetWeaver MDM) repository. The product catalog initially filters the condition records based on the condition type and condition table settings maintained in the Product Catalog module of Web Channel Builder. SAP Web Channel Experience Management (SAP Web Channel Exp. Mgmt) supports the following condition types and condition tables:Back-End SystemCondition TypesCondition TablesSAP CRMAll PR (Pricing) condition types, for example, 0PR0 and PR00.
- SAP004
- SAP005
- SAP073
- SAP304
- SAP305
SAP ERPAll condition types of condition class B (Prices), for example, PR00 and VKP0.- 004
- 005
- 073
- 304
- 305
The condition rate (or price) is then determined by filtering the condition records by the sales organization, distribution channel, currency, validity date, business partner (SAP005 for SAP CRM and 005 for SAP ERP) and settings maintained in the Common Settings module of Web Channel Builder. If several condition rates meet the filter criteria; the lowest condition rate is used. Condition types and condition tables can be defined for actual list prices or special list prices. - Dynamic pricingAlthough this pricing method does not have the same performance benefits as list price, it is required for complex pricing scenarios, for example, campaigns and scale price availability.Dynamic pricing is determined by the Pricing Engine (formerly Internet Pricing and Configurator (IPC)). Dynamic pricing enables a number of prices to be calculated, such as gross price, discount, and surcharge, which might be relevant for a certain customer, a group of customers, or on a specific date. The data required for calculating the price is derived from the product pricing information. This information is accessed and evaluated in a pricing procedure, which defines how the price is calculated; that is, which condition types apply and the sequence in which they are calculated. The dynamic pricing type determines the type of price involved. Product catalog supports the following dynamic pricing types:
- Net value without shipping costs
- Gross value without shipping costs
- MixedMixed allows a Web shop to adapt the pricing method based on the requirements of the pricing scenario. For example, if a Web shop customer submits campaign information by entering a promotional code, then dynamic pricing is used. If not, list price is used.
- Strikethrough pricesDepending on the configuration in the Product Catalog module of Web Channel Builder, Web shop customers can see the strikethrough price and discounted price of products in the catalog. If using an SAP ERP back end, you can display strikethrough prices for products using dynamic prices only. With an SAP CRM back end, you can display discounts using list prices, dynamic prices, and mixed prices.
- Discount amounts and percentagesDepending on the configuration in the Product Catalog module of Web Channel Builder, Web shop customers can see the discount amount and the percentage of the strikethrough price that they can save on discounted products in the catalog.
