Define Billing Units

You need to specify which units are responsible for creating billing documents in your organization. Billing units can be sales organizations, service organizations, or vendors in intercompany billing scenarios.
During billing, the correct billing unit is derived from the organizational data of the transaction to be billed.
Requirements
You have set up your organizational model in one of the following ways:
  • In Customizing for Customer Relationship Management, under Master Data -> Organizational Management -> Organizational Model
  • In the CRM WebClient UI, on the Organizational Model page.


Activities
Define billing units as follows:
    1. In the CRM WebClient UI, on the Accounts page, create a corporate account for the billing unit, with the role Billing Unit.
    2. Assign the billing unit to the relevant sales organization, service organization, or vendor, in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management:
    Sales Scenario
  • If you use intercompany billing, assign a billing unit to a vendor under Master Data -> Organizational Management -> Cross-System Assignment of Organizational Units -> Assign Billing Units to Vendors
      Service Scenario
      Assign a billing unit to a sales organization and service organization under Customer Relationship Management -> Master Data -> Organizational Management -> Cross-System Assignment of Organizational Units -> Assign Billing Units to Service/Sales Organizations.
    Examples
    • You have defined several sales areas for sales organizations 0001 and 0002, but sales organization 0001 is responsible for billing in all of these sales areas.
      In this case, sales organization 0001 is the billing unit.
    • You have defined service organizations 0001 and 0002, but service organization 0001 is responsible for billing for both service organizations.
      In this case, service organization 0001 is the billing unit.
