Checkout


This function or procedure is available with SAP CRM or SAP ERP as the back end connected to SAP Web Channel Experience Management. Note that if you use SAP CRM as the back end, a system connection between SAP CRM and SAP ERP might be required.
Web shop customers must go to checkout to create and submit orders. For more information about orders, seeOrders. Note that Web shop customers can create orders from quotations. For more information about quotations, see Quotations.

Prerequisites

  • You have configured checkout processes (see Configuring Checkout Processes).
  • You have made the necessary settings in the Checkout module of Web Channel Builder.

Features

Web shop customers can access checkout at any time from the Checkout link in the top right corner of the main navigation area, as well as from the shopping cart preview.
In the default delivery, the checkout process is a one-page guided procedure consisting of 5 steps. The number, sequence, and contents of the steps are configurable. At all times, a shopping cart summary is displayed along with the checkout steps.
Consumer Scenario: Checkout Steps
The system uses bill-to addresses to determine where invoices are sent. Bill-to addresses are not necessarily the same as ship-to addresses.
The system uses ship-to addresses to determine where products are sent. Ship-to addresses are also the basis for tax calculation and shipping cost calculation. Ship-to addresses are not necessarily the same as bill-to addresses.
The following table explains the checkout steps in the standard delivery, by back end:

Personal Details
Web shop customers can log on to (or register with) the Web shop if they have not done so before. If they are logged on already, their personal details are displayed.
If Web shop customers have created checkout profiles, the default checkout profile is displayed. Customers can view the checkout profile and select a different checkout profile.
Billing Details
All addresses from the personal data are displayed. If checkout profiles exist, the bill-to address of the default checkout profile or of the selected checkout profile is preset. If no checkout profiles exist, the registration address is displayed and preset.
Web shop customers can view the details of all addresses, select a different address, or enter a new address that is only valid for the current order (document address). The new address can be in the name of a different person. New bill-to addresses are automatically available for shipping as well.
The address from the personal data is displayed.

Shipping Details

Payment Details
Web shop customers can enterpromotional codes (see Campaign Determination), to benefit from available discounts.
They can also redeem gift cards or loyalty points (see Gift Cards andLoyalty Management).
Not available
All payment methods enabled in the Payment Methods module of Web Channel Builder are displayed. The payment method of the default checkout profile or of the selected checkout profile is preset. If no checkout profiles exist, the system determines the default from a setting you make in the Payment Methods module of Web Channel Builder.
Review and Place Order
Web shop customers review orders, accept the terms and conditions, and submit orders. Submitting orders without accepting the terms and conditions is not possible. After submission of an order, an order confirmation is displayed. You can use the order ID to track the order in the back end.

If the back end has determined that an item quantity has to be split into several deliveries, one schedule line is displayed for each delivery date. This also applies to the order confirmation.
